Low Maintenance Landscaping
Spend time in your yard not working on it.
What is low maintenance landscaping?
Is it set it and forget it? Is it tend to your yard once a week? Twice a week? It varies from person to person but we think the general idea is that you want a visually appealing space that’s functional and also doesn’t take up your time. Large lawns are great but can take up a lot of your weekends. Try replacing the water sucking lawn with a patio or deck.

Mulch…
Mulch is an inexpensive way to cover a large area. Always install a quality weed fabric underneath and prep the soil with pre-emergent weed killer.
Plants
When selecting plants you want to make sure they require as little maintenance as possible. Consider how big they will get, how often they need to be pruned and how much watering they require. For low maintenance options you want to stick with native plants that are used to thriving in our Winnipeg climate. Check out more planting options here
Rock bed and boulders
This project was designed in 3D and then installed with the future in mind. Plants are spaced out accordingly with their maximum growth accounted for. All native plants. We used a beautiful lake stone decorative rock with black granite boulders. This is a “less is more” scenario. Boulders tell such an interesting story. The textures and colors pop along with the yellow spirea, hostas and forsythia bush that will take it’s place in the corner bulb of this rock bed.
